ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
A new project - ENGLISH ACROSS THE CURRICULUM - was
introduced at our school
in September 1999. The pupils of the first forms have
got English education
additional to the common four English lessons
a week.
Michelle Whitfield, a young American native speaker,
has been teaching at our school
since September 1999. She has been assigned five weekly
lessons as a team - teacher
in each of our three first forms which means that
the students are partially taught
English in Biology, Music, Art, Woodwork, Needlework
and Physical Education as well.
We hope to increase our students´ proficiency
of English by offering
this additional amount of English.
After 7 months of English across the curriculum we
can point out as an interim result
that both the students and the teachers have been
enjoying this project very much.
The co-operation with Miss Michelle Whitfield has
enriched
everyday school life in Pernitz.
According to our encouraging
experience,
English across the curriculum
will be continued at the Hauptschule
Pernitz.
